Specific moments of time and place suggest poetic visions that inspire
my work. I alternate between observation, memory and invention. What
begins through observation gets altered in the studio, where it moves
between figuration and abstraction, embracing both, but not being wholly
either one. Images can come from anywhere, but some rise up and touch your heart. For me, the gestures of a figure moving amidst rocks, trees or in water, or the changing light on mountains, can transform outer realities into inner states.
